Part Two of The Power of Five

By now you should have a healthy respect for Matt Freeman. At the end of Part One of The Power of Five, and against all the odds, Matt succeeded in closing the gate which would allow unspeakable evil to enter our world. The strange thing is that he still doesn't really know how he did it. There is no doubt that he has the power to see into the future, but he can't yet do it at will.

And his personal situation is rather awkward. He is still only fourteen, but has no family at all. He is being supported by the shadowy organisation Nexus and a guardian friend Richard Cole. Matt has his doubts though. What exactly do Nexus expect of him, and why?

'You keep on saying that I'm one of the Five,' he said. 'And maybe you're right. I don't really understand any of it, but I know what happened at Raven's Gate.' He paused again. 'But I don't want to get involved,' he went on. 'I had enough the first time and right now I just want to get on with my life and I want to be left alone. You say it's just one meeting in London but I know it won't happen that way. Once I get started, I won't be able to stop. Something else will happen and then something after that...

Yes. He's right. That's exactly how it is. Although he sends Nexus away today something does happen and tomorrow he agrees to help. He and guardian Richard Cole are sent to Peru where Nexus believe that a second gate is about to open.

It's a hair-raising story of deceit and treachery, friendship and loyalty, and the inexorable rise of evil. If Matt really is the first of the five, how can he find the others? And what are they supposed to do?
